Displays: two screens, one shape
When it's closed, you use the 5.4-inch outer display like any compact iPhone. When you open it, the 7.6-inch inner display gives you about 50% more screen than an iPhone 18 Pro Max, according to Apple. Both screens have the same aspect ratio, so apps don't get stretched or letterboxed when you switch between them.
The inner screen has a matte nano-texture finish that cuts reflections, which helps in bright Dubai offices and outdoors. ProMotion means the refresh rate adapts up to 120Hz, so scrolling feels smooth. Always-On keeps the time and widgets visible while using very little power.
A20 Pro chip: what it means in daily use
The iPhone Duo uses the same A20 Pro chip as the iPhone 18 Pro range. It's built on a 2nm process and pairs a 6-core CPU with a 7-core GPU. Apple says the CPU is up to 20% faster and the GPU up to 40% faster than A19 Pro, and a vapor chamber helps it hold performance for longer. In practice, it can run two apps side by side in iOS 27's Split View, play demanding games with ray-traced lighting, and handle the on-device AI behind Siri AI (beta, English first).
Cameras: Smart Take and Duo Preview explained
- 48MP Fusion Main: shoots 24MP photos by default, can go up to 48MP, and offers an optical-quality 2x telephoto (52 mm).
- 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide: wide group shots and macro close-ups.
- Smart Take: on-device AI takes the photo automatically when your subjects pose, so you're less likely to miss the moment.
- Duo Preview: while you shoot, the outer display shows the people you're photographing a live preview, so they can check how they look. It also lets you take selfies with the better rear cameras.
- Video: 4K Dolby Vision up to 120 fps and Cinematic effects you can add after recording.
Battery and charging
The iPhone Duo has two batteries, one in each half. Apple rates it at up to 44 hours of video playback on the outer display, 31 hours on the inner display and 24 hours of mixed use. The large inner screen uses more power, so using the outer screen for quick tasks makes the battery last longer. Apple says it charges to 50% in about 20 minutes wired, or about 30 minutes with MagSafe or Qi2. The box only includes a USB-C cable, so you'll need to buy a charger separately.
Build, hinge and durability
The frame is Grade 5 titanium, and the hinge cover is 3D-printed from recycled titanium. The hinge itself has more than 100 components, supports the middle of the screen when open, and uses magnets to close securely. The phone is rated IP68, which covers depths of up to 6 m for up to 30 minutes. In the UAE, the more common risk is fine sand. Wipe the hinge area gently after beach or desert trips, and use a case. eSIM only: important for UAE users
The iPhone Duo has no physical SIM slot. It supports dual eSIM, which means two active lines at once, such as a personal and a work number. du, e& (Etisalat) and Virgin Mobile UAE all offer eSIM, so ask your carrier to convert your line before you switch phones. If you plan to take the phone abroad, check that your home carrier supports eSIM first.
