More UAE companies now run step challenges, wellness months and year-end staff gifts. With the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2026 running from 31 October to 29 November and UAE National Day and year-end gifting coming up after that, many HR teams are asking which wearable makes a good team gift. The Google Fitbit Air is a strong choice. It is small, it has no screen, and it works with both Android phones and iPhones. This guide covers what HR and office managers in Dubai and the wider GCC should know before ordering for a team.

Why Fitbit Air works well for teams

A corporate gift only helps if people keep wearing it. Fitbit Air has a few things going for it here:

  • Light and easy to wear: Google lists the tracker at 5.2 g, or 12 g with the band. It has no screen and no buttons, so it suits office wear and sleep.
  • Works on most staff phones: It needs Android 11 or newer, or iOS 16.4 or newer, plus a Google Account and the free Google Health app.
  • Long battery: up to 7 days per charge. A full charge takes about 90 minutes, and 5 minutes of charging gives about 1 day. It charges over USB-C.
  • No extra cost to start: core tracking is free in the Google Health app. Google Health Premium, which adds the Gemini-powered Health Coach, is optional.
  • Greener packaging: the housing uses recycled polycarbonate and PBT plastics, and Google says the packaging is 100% plastic-free. This helps if your company reports on sustainability.

What employees can track

Each person gets 24/7 heart rate, steps, Active Zone Minutes, distance, calories, sleep, SpO2, heart rate variability (HRV) and skin-temperature variation. They also get Cardio Load and Readiness scores. Fitbit Air uses the phone's GPS for outdoor runs and walks, and it is water resistant to 50 m, so pool sessions are fine. For more detail, see our Readiness & Cardio Load guide.

The Google Health app also has leaderboards, so friends can compare steps and Cardio Load. This makes it easy to run a simple, opt-in team challenge.

Note: Fitbit Air is a wellness device. Its health features, including AFib alerts, are not a medical diagnosis.

Choosing colours for a team order

Colour Buckle Good for Our price (AED)
Obsidian Matte black Default pick for mixed teams 481.95
Fog Polished silver Light, neutral option 481.95
Berry Champagne gold Warm, giftable look 481.95
Lavender Polished silver Soft, pastel option 498.75
Rye (Stephen Curry Special Edition) Pyrite, with sweatproof band coating Senior team, top performers or awards 677.25

These are store prices at the time of writing and can change. Check the product pages for the latest price and availability.

A simple approach is to order Obsidian and Fog for most of the team. You can then let staff swap colours, or use Rye for awards and long-service gifts.

Practical tips for UAE companies

  1. Collect choices first: a quick form with colour preference saves swaps later. The textile band is one size and fits wrists from 130 to 210 mm, so you rarely need to ask about size.
  2. Make it opt-in: each person sets up the tracker with their own Google Account. Health data stays in their own app. Google says Fitbit health and wellness data is not used for Google Ads. Do not ask staff to share personal health data with HR. Leaderboards should stay voluntary.
  3. Time it with the Dubai Fitness Challenge: give out the trackers before 31 October, or early in the challenge, so teams can log their 30 minutes a day for 30 days. Our Dubai Fitness Challenge guide has ideas for this.
  4. Plan for summer: in the hot months, set step goals that suit indoor walking and mall laps, and encourage early-morning activity. Remind staff to dry the band after a swim or after sweating.
  5. Run a 10-minute setup session: walk the team through pairing with the Google Health app. You can share our setup guide beforehand.
  6. Explain Premium clearly: tell staff that core tracking is free and that Premium is an optional personal subscription. See what's free vs paid.
