Buying a Starlink kit is only half the decision. The other half is the monthly plan, and in the UAE the choice is mainly between Residential Lite, Residential, Roam and Business/Priority. Each one suits a different kind of user. This guide explains what each plan is for, what was reported at the UAE launch, and how to pick the right one for a villa, a farm, a boat or a desert trip.

Important: Starlink sets plan prices and can change them at any time. The figures below come from launch reports in 2026. Always confirm the current price for your address in the Starlink app or on starlink.com before you subscribe.

Quick overview: Starlink plans in the UAE

Plan Reported UAE price (2026) Best for Key limits
Residential Lite About AED 230/month Homes with light to moderate use, backup internet Lower network priority than Residential
Residential About AED 300/month Villas and farms where Starlink is the main connection Tied to your registered service address
Roam Reported from roughly AED 185–200/month (100 GB); unlimited tiers reported higher Camping, travel, temporary sites Lowest priority; limits on use abroad
Business / Priority Varies by data package (one launch report quoted from about AED 248/month) Offices, remote sites, events Priority data is allocated per package

Launch reports differ slightly, especially on Roam pricing, which is often billed according to Starlink's global USD rates. Treat the numbers above as a guide, not a quote.

Residential Lite vs Residential

Both residential plans give you "unlimited" data for normal use at one fixed address. The difference is priority. When many users share the same coverage area (a "cell"), Residential customers are served first, and Lite customers may see slower speeds at busy times such as evenings.

  • Residential Lite – reported speeds of up to around 200 Mbps download in ideal conditions. A good choice if Starlink is a backup to fibre, or if your household mainly browses, streams and makes video calls.
  • Residential – reported speeds of up to around 300 Mbps download. Better if several people work from home, you upload large files, or Starlink is your only connection (for example, a farm in Al Ain or a villa outside fibre coverage).

Note that some popular addresses in Dubai and Abu Dhabi were reported as "at capacity" at times, which means new residential orders may go on a waitlist. Check your exact address in the Starlink app.

Roam: for portable use

Roam is the plan most Starlink Mini owners choose, because it is not tied to one address. You can take the dish camping in Liwa, to a beach in Fujairah or to a temporary site, then pack it away.

Things to know before you choose Roam:

  • Lower priority. Roam users are served after Residential and Business users, so speeds can be lower in busy areas.
  • Use abroad is limited. Standard Roam plans are designed for travel, with a limit of about two months per trip outside your home country. Starlink also offers a separate global option for heavy international use.
  • Pausing. Roam can usually be paused between trips. A low-cost Standby option was reported in 2026; check the current terms in the app.
  • No in-motion use on land in the UAE. Even though Roam supports in-motion use in some countries, using Starlink while driving on UAE roads is not permitted. Park, set up, then connect.

Roam suits people who work from different places, as long as the dish is stationary and has a clear view of the sky.

Business and Priority plans

Business plans add higher network priority, a set amount of priority data each month, and business tools such as public IP options and an account dashboard. They make sense for:

  • Shops, warehouses and offices that need a backup line when fibre goes down
  • Construction sites, remote camps and farms with staff
  • Exhibitions and outdoor events where many devices connect at once

We cover these use cases in more detail in our guide to Starlink Mini for business in the UAE.

Which plan should you choose?

Your situation Suggested plan
Backup internet at home in Dubai or Sharjah Residential Lite
Villa or farm with no fibre, family of 4+ Residential
Weekend desert camping, beach trips Roam (pause between trips if possible)
Boat use in UAE waters Check maritime/Roam options in the app – see our Starlink for boats guide
Company sites, events, multiple users Business / Priority

Practical tips for UAE buyers

  • Kit and plan are separate. You pay for the hardware once, then the plan monthly. In our store, the Starlink Mini is currently AED 1,499 and the Starlink Standard Kit (V4X) is AED 1,899. See all options in our Starlink collection.
  • Pick the dish for how you will use it. Mini for portability and Roam; Standard for a fixed home setup. Our Mini vs Standard comparison explains the trade-offs.
  • Expect UAE network rules to apply. Starlink in the UAE follows the same content and VoIP rules as other local networks, so apps that are restricted on other UAE connections may also be restricted on Starlink.
  • Check the price in the app before activating. Prices and plan names can change, and launch reports did not always agree.
  • Read our price and legality guide. Starlink Mini in UAE: price, legality and plans covers the TDRA licence and what is allowed.

FAQ

Can I switch between Starlink plans later?

Starlink generally lets you change plans from the app, subject to availability at your address. Changing from Roam to Residential, for example, requires an address with capacity. Check the app for current options.

Can I use a Residential plan on a camping trip?

Residential plans are tied to your registered address. For regular use away from home, Roam is the plan designed for that.

Can I use Starlink while driving in the UAE?

No. In-motion use on land is not permitted in the UAE. Use Starlink only when your vehicle is parked.

Do you sell plans or subscriptions?

No. We sell Starlink hardware and accessories. You activate and pay for your plan directly with Starlink through the app. For bulk or business orders, please contact us.
