Design and screens
The biggest practical difference is the outer screen. The Fold7's 6.5" cover screen is tall and narrow – it feels like a normal phone, so many owners rarely open it. The iPhone Duo's 5.4" outer screen is smaller, closer to a compact iPhone. Apple says it gives about 90% of the screen area of an iPhone 18 Pro. It's comfortable one-handed, but you'll likely unfold it more often for videos and reading.
Inside, Samsung gives you more space (8.0" vs 7.6"). Apple's inner display uses a nano-texture finish that cuts glare and, according to Apple, makes the crease less visible – useful in bright UAE sunlight. Apple quotes up to 3000 nits peak outdoor brightness for the inner screen; Samsung quotes up to 2,600 nits.
Samsung's Fold7 is very thin: 8.9mm folded, 4.2mm open, and 215g. Apple calls the open iPhone Duo "the thinnest iPhone ever" but hadn't published weight or thickness figures in its launch announcement, so we won't guess.
Cameras
On paper, the Fold7 has the more flexible camera kit: a 200MP main camera plus a real 3x telephoto with up to 30x Space Zoom. If you shoot a lot of zoomed photos – concerts at Coca-Cola Arena, the Burj Khalifa from across the lake – that's a real advantage.
The iPhone Duo uses two 48MP cameras (Main and Ultra Wide), with a 2x optical-quality zoom from the main sensor. Its party tricks are software: Smart Take uses on-device AI to capture the shot automatically when people pose, and Duo Preview shows the subject a live preview on the outer screen so they can check framing. Great for group photos and selfies with the main cameras.

Performance, battery and durability
- Performance: Both are flagship-level. Apple says the A20 Pro is up to 35% better at sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro – helpful for gaming and long video edits in the heat.
- Battery: Apple quotes up to 44 hours of video on the outer screen, 31 hours on the inner screen, and up to 24 hours of mixed use. Samsung lists a 4,400mAh battery. Different testing, so compare carefully – but Apple's figures are strong for a foldable.
- Charging: iPhone Duo: up to 50% in around 20 minutes wired, or around 30 minutes on MagSafe/Qi2. Fold7: up to 50% in about 30 minutes with a 25W adapter.
- Water and dust: The iPhone Duo is rated IP68 (dust-tight). The Fold7 is IP48, which is less protected against fine dust. For desert trips and sandy beach days, that's a point for Apple – though no foldable should be treated as sand-proof.
eSIM-only vs physical SIM: important for UAE and export buyers
The iPhone Duo is eSIM-only worldwide. du, e& (Etisalat) and Virgin Mobile UAE all offer eSIM, so local users are fine. If you're buying in Dubai to use at home – in Africa or South Asia, for example – check first that your carrier supports eSIM. The Fold7 takes a nano-SIM as well as eSIM, which makes it the easier choice for travellers who swap local SIM cards.
Which should you buy?
Choose the iPhone Duo if you already use an iPhone, Mac or Apple Watch, want the stronger IP68 rating, like a compact outer screen, or need 2TB of storage.
Choose the Galaxy Z Fold7 if you want the bigger 8" screen, a 3x telephoto camera, a physical SIM slot, or a much lower price.
