Apple now has two very different flagships on sale in the UAE: the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Both run on the same A20 Pro chip, but they are built for different people. This guide compares them side by side, with live Babar Dewan Electronics prices in AED, so you can decide which one fits the way you use your phone in Dubai.
The short answer
- Choose the iPhone Duo if you want a small-tablet screen in your pocket for reading, documents, spreadsheets and video, and you are happy to pay a premium for a new design.
- Choose the iPhone 18 Pro Max if you want the best zoom camera, the biggest battery figure, a familiar slab design and much more value per dirham.

Screen: the reason the iPhone Duo exists
Apple says the Duo's 7.6" inner display is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max screen. Opened, it is closer to a small iPad than a phone, which makes a real difference for reading PDFs, checking contracts, editing slides or watching a film on a flight from DXB. Closed, the 5.4" outer display handles quick replies, maps and payments. Apple also says Apple Pencil (USB-C) support is coming later this year.
The 18 Pro Max's single 6.9" display is still large, and you never have to think about a crease or a hinge. If you mostly scroll social media, take calls and use WhatsApp, it does the job very well.
Cameras: Pro Max wins on zoom
The iPhone Duo has two 48MP cameras (Main and Ultra Wide) with an optical-quality 2x option, plus clever foldable features: Duo Preview lets your subject see the shot on the outer display, and Smart Take helps you capture the best moment. The iPhone 18 Pro Max adds a dedicated 48MP 4x Telephoto with up to 8x optical-quality zoom. For shots of the Burj Khalifa from Downtown, wildlife at Al Marmoom, or your kids on stage at a school event, the Pro Max is the stronger camera.
Battery and daily use in the UAE
On paper they are close: up to 45 hours of video playback for the Pro Max and up to 44 hours for the Duo on its outer display. The catch is that the Duo drops to up to 31 hours when you use the big inner screen, and that is the screen most buyers want it for. If you are out from morning school runs to late dinners, the Pro Max is the safer bet. Either way, avoid leaving any phone on a car dashboard in summer – heat is the biggest enemy of battery health.
Practical UAE tips
- eSIM only: neither phone has a physical SIM tray. du, e& (Etisalat) and Virgin Mobile UAE all offer eSIM; ask your carrier to activate it before or after delivery.
- Taking it abroad: if you are buying for family in a country where eSIM support is limited, check their carrier first.
- Business buyers: ordering several units for staff or gifting? See our wholesale page.
- Protection: a foldable needs a case designed for its hinge; ask us which accessories are in stock when you order.
