Many UAE homes have excellent fibre, but not every property does. Farms in Al Ain or Liwa, villas on the edge of new communities, mountain homes near Hatta and weekend estates out in the desert can sit beyond the reach of a fixed line, or get only a weak mobile signal. Since Starlink's service went live in the UAE in March 2026 under TDRA licensing, satellite broadband has become a realistic option for these places. This guide covers how to choose a kit, where to mount it, how to cope with the heat, and how to spread Wi-Fi across a large property.
Is Starlink a good fit for your farm or villa?
Starlink makes the most sense when wired internet is unavailable, slow, or very expensive to bring to your plot. It is also a useful backup for villas where an outage would disrupt work, CCTV or smart-home systems. If you already have reliable fibre, Starlink is usually a second connection rather than a replacement. For a side-by-side view, read our Starlink vs 5G home internet comparison.
Before you buy anything, enter your exact address or drop a pin on Starlink's availability map. Service eligibility is checked per location, and residential plans are meant to be used at the service address you register.
Which kit: Standard or Mini?
For a fixed property, the Standard kit is normally the better choice. It has a larger dish with a wide field of view and is built to stay mounted outdoors. The Mini is lighter and runs on DC power, which suits people who also want to take it camping or use it at several sites (stationary use only on land in the UAE).
| Starlink Standard (V4) | Starlink Mini | |

In our store, the Starlink Standard Kit (V4X) is listed at AED 1,899, the Standard Kit (V4) at AED 1,699, and the Starlink Mini at AED 1,499. Prices and availability can change, so check the product page or our Starlink collection before ordering. Our Mini vs Standard guide goes into more detail.
Where to mount the dish

Starlink needs a clear view of the sky. On a large plot it is tempting to put the dish wherever is convenient, but obstructions are the most common cause of dropouts.
- Villas: a flat roof or high terrace usually works best. Keep the dish away from parapet walls, water tanks, satellite TV dishes and pergolas.
- Farms: date palms grow tall and their fronds move in the wind. Mount the dish on a pole or on a building roof that sits above the tree line, not in the middle of the grove.
- Camps and estates: use a pole or sturdy mount that keeps the dish above people, vehicles and livestock, and away from animal pens.
- Check first: use the obstruction checker in the Starlink app before drilling anything. If it reports frequent obstructions, move the spot.
- Plan the cable: check the cable length in your kit before choosing a mount far from the house, and route it through conduit to protect it from sun and animals.
Dealing with UAE heat and dust
Both kits are rated up to 50°C. Summer peaks in parts of the UAE can come close to that, especially on dark rooftops. A few habits help:
- Keep the power supply and router indoors or in shade, never inside a closed metal box in direct sun.
- Leave space around the dish for airflow rather than tucking it against a hot wall.
- After a dust storm, gently rinse the dish surface with water. Do not scrub it with abrasive pads.
- If speeds drop on very hot afternoons, check the app for a thermal warning before assuming a fault.

Getting Wi-Fi across a big property
A single router rarely covers a large villa, a majlis, staff quarters and a farm office all at once. Thick concrete walls in UAE homes also block Wi-Fi. Practical options:
- Add mesh nodes so the signal reaches every building.
- Run Ethernet to outbuildings where you can, then place an access point in each one.
- Use your own network gear by putting the Starlink router in bypass mode and treating Starlink as the internet connection for your existing router.
- Put CCTV and smart devices on a wired link where possible, so they stay stable.
Choosing a plan
At launch, UAE residential plans were reported from about AED 230 per month for Residential Lite and about AED 300 per month for Residential. Lite can be slower at busy times, so families who stream, work from home or run cameras may prefer the full Residential plan. Plan names and prices change, so always confirm the current options in the Starlink app or on starlink.com before you subscribe. FAQ
Can I use one Starlink for both my villa and my farm?
Residential plans are tied to a registered service address. If you split time between two properties, check in the Starlink app what your plan allows, or consider a separate kit for each site.
Will Starlink work among date palms?
It can, as long as the dish sits above the canopy. Dishes placed under or between palms usually see frequent interruptions.
Do I need a professional installer?
No. Setup is self-guided through the Starlink app. Many owners do hire someone for roof or pole mounting and cable routing on large properties. See our step-by-step setup guide.
Can I order several kits for a farm group or company?
Yes. For bulk orders or business enquiries, visit our wholesale page or contact us.
